Sainsbury’s Farming Conference 2020

The Brief:

Our brief was to supply four films for the Sainsbury’s Farming Conference to bring the online event to life and enhance the delegate experience.

The Challenge:

We had the normal challenges of time – the films were commissioned two weeks out from the main conference date – the four locations were in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Hertfordshire, and Oxford.

The additional challenge was filming under Covid restrictions.

The Solution:

For the three on-farm films, we deliberately used a very small crew– a single camera person with two cameras and a drone – supported by a Director / Producer. This made us agile in terms of travel and allowed us to use our time on the farm very efficiently. It also limited our exposure to our interviewees and them to us.

For the main Oxford film, we established a studio set up at the offices of Satellite Applications Catapult – a very large room allowing more than enough space for social distancing.

Filming under Covid restrictions just takes a bit of thinking about. Many hotels are shut and the ones that will allow people to stay who are travelling for work reasons – have no restaurants open. Our crews who would ordinarily travel together – cannot do so. All our kits must be constantly sanitised and of course, there is no physical contact with interviewees i.e., helping them with mics.

However common sense prevails – along with the fact that all of us have been certified by ScreenSkills in London to film under Covid restrictions.

The Result:

Four fantastic short films – all delivered within two weeks, on time – on budget and on message.
